3k Race Day

(I just found this today. I didn't realize I had started this blog almost 2 months ago. I have decided to post it because it reminds me of what all happened during the months of March and April. It was a pretty stressful time. It's good to remember these things happen but in the end I can come back out on top and continue moving forward--- just like Amanda said in her comment about the last post, thanks for the reminder Amanda)

Today was my 3k race day. The plan was to run it until I was done at a 1:2 ratio, that's 1min running : 2min walking. I never made it to the race though. I slept in instead. :( It wasn't by accident though. I have had one heck of a week.

First I find out my dad might have cancer, then I find out next week we find out who at my place of work might get laid off. On top of that I had to help plan and execute a shower/stagette on Saturday and figure out the bra and dress situation for the wedding coming up. And for those of you who have to wear a bra and a dress you know what I am talking about! You get it! Sigh, it just was more than I could deal with in one week.

  1. That kind of week is a DOOZY. When I go through patches like that, I just put my life 'on hold' and make sure I take care of myself. Don't underestimate what stress can do to your health.

In the grand scheme of things, the time you lost not training to run is a drop in the bucket. Glad you're back on track and blogging again! And some day, when running is a fully integrated part of your life, you will probably find that it HELPS you deal with stress :-)

Is your Dad cancer free, or is that something you're still dealing with?
